Gratitude

We attended Hannah’s graduation festivities last week at Liberty University. Commencement on Friday night was exceptional, which says a great deal if you have any experience with commencement ceremonies. While most commencements are long and relatively boring, the May 10th ceremony was markedly different.

Over the weekend, as I tried to define why that was, I came to this conclusion: Gratitude. The entire commencement was marked by a spirit of gratitude from the opening song to the testimonies given to the feeling of “it’s over aleady?” at the end.

Gratitude.

The evening opened with “Praise” by Elevation Worship.

And the last song we sang together was “You are Good.”

Gratitude turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity...it makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.
