Joy
So the guy in my last post Hope — Fear is Not My Future is Will Folkerts. We ran into each other again on the beach this morning, and today his daughters were with him. They excitedly shared with me that later yesterday, they found a good-sized Meg frag!
How absolutely fun is this?
I walked on up the beach and found something for myself moments later. I called back to them to show them and help them understand a little better what characteristics to look for.
Half an hour or so later, we crossed again, and they were happy to show me a Great White tooth they’d found, along with an amazing Angustiden. To say I was thrilled for them would be an understatement.
Look at those cusplets!
The joy we all felt this morning on the beach reminded me of the parables in Luke 15 as different things of value were found. Further, I was reminded that I want to be able to find true joy in the success of others, cheering them on as they accomplish things.
Theodore Roosevelt famously said, “Comparison is the thief of joy.”
Friends, let’s find joy in lifting others and celebrating their accomplishments, knowing this world has plenty of beauty for all of us to share.
