I can’t make it to your graduation

For four years we’ve anticipated Vorb’s graduation from seminary. At the start of the 2025-2026 academic year, I made sure to put his graduation date on my calendar. I was not going to miss this important day.

But then life happened, and chemotherapy came into the picture, and dates clashed with dates, and it looked impossible for me to be at graduation and be back in North Carolina for chemotherapy on Monday, May 18.

I finally told Vorb, “I can’t make it to your graduation. I’m so sorry.”

But God…

For weeks Handy and I have been praying together that I could come to visit. Handy didn’t know that my desire was to be in Port-au-Prince for graduation. He just knew that he wanted me to come.

And my heart greatly desired to be here, too.

It took multiple flights, multiple drivers, and a stop in the Dominican Republic, but by God’s grace, I am here and soaking up every precious minute.

Glwa pou Bondye.
